Were you a little disappointed that we didn’t have a White Christmas? Were your kids looking forward to frolicking in the snow over Winter Break? At Wimot Mountain, just a short drive over the IL/WI border, the lack of snow won’t stop you from having fun!
Wilmot Mountain is one of the first successful ski resorts in the midwest to master the art of “snowmaking” and is family-owned and operated. They offer skiing and snowboarding along with class instruction for all skill levels. But what has my family most excited is their Snow Tubing area…

Snow tubing is the perfect winter “sport” your whole family can participate in since no one really has to have a particular skill set to participate. Basically, if you can fall and know how to hang on, you’re in!

At Wilmot, they have a wholly separate tubing area that’s over 1,000 feet long with over 20 lanes. It even has its own covered conveyor lift and a comfy new lodge. This isn’t your average sledding hill though, speeds have reached 38mph in the day and over 50mph at night, so it’s not an activity for the faint of heart or smaller children afraid of speed.

Directions from Lake County:
- Follow I-94W heading North towards Wisconsin
- Exit on Rosecrans/Hwy 173
- Travel West for 14 miles
- Turn Right at Wilmot Road
- Continue onto Hwy W/Fox River Road
No Snow?!? No problem! A family excursion to Wilmot Mountain is worth the trip!
