Tanabata Festival
July 7, Lilac Cottage, Bowen Park, Waukegan
This festival takes place on the 7th day of the 7th month of the year, when according to legend, two stars, Altair and Vega, usually separated from each other by the Milky Way, are able to meet. Join us in the 8th annual celebration of Tanabata. Make a wish for clear weather as you attach your personal wish or haiku poem for the upcoming year to the “wishing tree” otherwise, Altair and Vega cannot meet.

Highwood Days & North Shore Taco Fest
July 20 - 24, Everts Park
This year marks the 48th anniversary of Highwood’s oldest festival. Complete with carnival rides, funnel cakes, a beer & margarita garden, live music and tons of food from local vendors – this is the most traditional festival and will not disappoint! To add to the excitement, Highwood debuts the First Annual North Shore Taco Fest where we will bring together the region’s best taco-centric restaurants, caterers and food trucks to offer a wide range of mouth watering taco creations.

Chicago Botanic Gardens Art Festival
July 2-3, Chicago Botanic Garden, Glencoe
Stroll and shop among 100 juried artists on the Esplanade. This one-of-a-kind art festival brings botanic-themed and botanic-made photography, paintings, ceramics, cement, metal, fiber, wood, jewelry, and other pieces to the Chicago Botanic Garden.
ArtWauk
July 16, Waukegan Arts District
ArtWauk is a monthly celebration of arts in the Arts & Entertainment District in Waukegan. Each month this event showcases different art and artists at over 20 venues, offering free access to each site and a chance to meet the artists.
