Lake County is filled with beautiful forest preserves and trails that are perfect for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. You don’t have to invest in your own pair of skis or snowshoes to take advantage of the fresh snow and the quiet trails. The following locations rent out skis and or snowshoes. Snowshoe Rentals in Lake County

Rentals are available for children and adults starting at $15 a day. Fee can be applied to a snowshoe purchases if the purchase is made within 5 days. Rentals are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Discounts are available for multiple rentals.
Crabtree Nature Center

Showshoes are available for use on the Crabtree property for FREE when snow is 4 inches or deeper. Equipment is loaned out on a first-come, first-serve basis and a drivers license is required. Daily 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Closed on Fridays.
Cross Country Ski Rentals in Lake County
Heller Nature Center

Skis are available on a first-come, first-serve basis for children age 6 through adult. Package includes no-wax skis, boots, and poles. Daily fee is $13 for adults and $8 for children, $20 deposit or drivers license is required on each pair. Rentals are available daily from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. when there is at least 4 inches of snow, no overnight rentals.
