Thursday September 1
- 6:00 p.m. Buffalo Grove Days, Village Hall Campus
This annual festival has fun for everyone, including the Chamber Beer Garden, a business and craft fair, free entertainment, carnival, games, special events, a BBQ Challenge and Sunday night fireworks. Runs daily through September 5. - 6:30 p.m. Barrington Cruise Night, Downtown Barrington
The last Cruise Night of the season celebrates 75 years of Jeep.
Friday September 2
- 6:00 p.m. First Friday on Main Street, Downtown Libertyville
It is a party in downtown Libertyville every “First Friday” of the month. You will find a surprise around every corner. It might be a jazz band, a balloon artist, a classical guitarist, hors d’oeuvres, an art exhibit, or any number of other things that will entertain and delight you. - 6:30 p.m. Concerts in the Park, Community Park, Hawthorn Woods
Enjoy a sweet summer night with good friends and great music. Food vendors are on-site for every concert. This week’s band is Gray Rock playing vintage Rock N’ Roll.
Saturday September 3
- All Day 68th Annual Jubilee Days, Shiloh Park
Zion’s Labor Day Festival features community-wide activities, including a Queen’s Pageant, concerts, Illinois’ largest Labor Day Parade, fireworks and many more events and attractions! Runs daily through September 5. - 10:oo a.m. Swim and Sand Saturdays, Lake County JCC
Relax in our kid-friendly pool, play in the sand pit, shoot some hoops on the basketball court or explore Garoon Gateway to Science and its 52 hands-on exhibits. Admission is $10 per family. - 10:00 a.m. 15th Annual Mustang and Ford Car Show, Volo Auto Museum
There will be live music, food and beer and giveaways all day. Admission fee includes the museum entrance and benefits the Pink Daisy Project. Admission is $14.95 for adults and $8.95 for children. - 11:00 a.m. Long Grove Irish Days, Historic Long Grove
All eyes will be smiling when the historic shopping district of Long Grove presents Irish Days, a celebration of Irish culture, music, food and drink. Runs daily through September 5. - 12:00 p.m. 14th Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta, Lindy’s Landing
A fantastic summertime tradition, with a full day schedule of fun and excitement as kids, adults, families, clubs, organizations and businesses compete for prizes and bragging rights. The races begin at 12:00 p.m. and take place on beautiful Bangs Lake at Lindy’s Landing marina. This event is held annually to raise funds for the Bangs Lake Advisory Committee, which maintains and restores the crown jewel of Wauconda—Bangs Lake. We’ll see you at the races! - 12:00 p.m. Taste of Serbia, St. Basil Serbian Orthodox Church, Lake Forest/Mettawa
Come early. Stay late. Don’t miss a great time. Taste of Serbia will have great ongoing array of entertainment, things to do, traditional cuisine, music, and beverages. Plenty to do for children and guests of all ages. Learn about the culture. Learn to dance a kolo. Free admission and parking. Runs daily through September 5. - 2:00 p.m. North Shore Greek Fest, Northbrook
Spend the weekend in Greece… No passport required! Large tent, come rain or shine! Festival features Greek food and pastries, live music and dancing, children’s entertainment and more. Free parking west of the festival grounds.Free admission for all children under the age of 12. Runs daily through September 5. - 5:00 p.m. Wauconda Annual Street Dance
What a feeling to join friends and family for a night of music, beverages, food and dancing! The Wauconda Area Chamber hosts an evening of live music, food, dancing, raffles, collection of food and school supplies and more! Main Street will be packed with area residents in celebration and appreciation for our members and building a stronger community.
Sunday September 4
- 10:00 a.m. 62nd Annual Art on the Square, Market Square Lake Forest
Art fair consists of selected exhibitors’ work in a variety of disciplines including ceramics, digital art, drawing/pastels, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, graphics, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture and wood. There will also be a children’s art tent for the creative little ones. Repeats on Monday September 5. - 11:00 a.m. Malott Japanese Garden Family Sundays, Chicago Botanic Garden
Drop by the Malott Japanese Garden for hands-on activities related to Japanese arts and culture. Practice using chopsticks, rake miniature dry gardens, make Japanese kites, and more. - 2:00 p.m. Village of Tower Lakes 50th Anniversary Celebration, Tower Lakes
Celebration includes a historical marker trail, pig roast, ice cream social, and music.
